Broken: Fruit of the Loom underwear name

Bill Statler writes:

Fruit of the Loom makes boys' underwear with pictures of cartoon characters on them. They are sold under the name "Funpals." For the girls' version, they have chosen the unfortunate name "FunGals".

Granted, they have at least capitalized that middle "G" in the logo, but even the Fruit of the Loom website lists the item in all-caps as "FUNGALS."

Heh heh.

And aside from that...

When did 'pal' become gender-specific?

I can see them in the bullpen:

"OK, we'll call them FunPals."

"Waitaminnit! They're not just for pals, they're for girls too!"

"Oh yeah, we'll need another name for the girls."

All go back to frowning and holding their chins...

Well, it's a good idea -- fungal underwear for children.

Bet they didn't have any problem registering the "FUNGALSĀ®" trademark.

Wow! I wear them everyday and never noticed that FunPals was spelled without a capital "P".

Wait a minute why is BOB the builder on the girls underwear?

Posted by: bubba at June 13, 2005 03:45 PM

I JUST WANT COMPANY TO KNOW THAT I BUY YOUR UNDERWEAR FOR WOMEN AND THE LAST 2 PACKS OF 6 PAIRS FELL APART AFTER ONE WASH. I AM TOTALLY UPSET OVER THIS. THE PRICES FOR THESE ITEMS ARE NOT CHEAP AND TO HAVE TO REPLACE THEM AFTER ONE WERA IS TOTALLY WRONG!

why the tape on the underwear????when you remove it it pulls the threads if you can remove it...

just roll them up (no tape)put into bag it would be cheaper and one less thing to throw out...
