Broken: Mall entrance sign

do_not_enterMark Makower writes:

Here's one I found this morning in Orange, CT at the entrance to a shopping center. One sign reads "Right Lane Must Turn Right" while the sign at the turn reads "Do Not Enter."

Comments:

Due to the constuction of the entrance, it appears that the "do not enter" sign should be replaced, or coupled with, a "no left turn" sign, as well as ensuring that the new signage is only visable to the opposing traffic that the original "do not enter sign" was intended for.

Well, it could be worse. Every time I see one of those "must turn" signs, I keep anticipating the day when I see a sign that says:

"Right lane must turn left."

I suppose, if they were to put such directive signs on certain interstate mergings, we would see such a thing (i.e. I95 around Baltimore and D.C.).

There's been worse.

I've seen a stop sign with a "No Stopping at any time" sign under it.

Although I think that one was Photoshopped.

That useless sidewalk is a classic as well. A vestigial token of the days when we used to actually walk places, but no longer actually useful.

Later that day, a blue minivan pulled into that fated lane... And they never saw it again...
