Broken: Life Savers store listing

Firefoxscreensnapz001A TIB reader points out that the LifeSavers website, candystand.com, allowed (children) users to search for stores in their area that participated in a recent sweepstakes.

After entering his zip code, this reader saw the first result: Absolute Smoke Shop.

He writes, "Seems kind of weird to be sending little kids into a cigarette store."

Comments:

Hey, they're just providing a location service. I mean, logically, if children are using it they can't get there without parental assistance, and what kind of parent sends their kids into a smoke shop? It does seem a little silly though that the list isn't filtered if the site is geared towards children.

Any why are the results ordered alphabetically? Sorting by distance would make far more sense, with the closest stores appearing first (plus a Distance column, plus a Street Address, if you really want users to find the store).

But is not that the intention of opening a liquor store? to sell liquor? what your saying is like saying blockbuster is a candy shop, since they sell candy as well as rentals.

I typed in the zip code 75019, and looking through the results, some of them are self-storage places! LOL

It's a sweepstakes! Children can't sign up for it anyways, so it doesn't matter. You most likely have to be 18 to register.

Maybe that liquor is considered 'candy'.
