Broken: Krylon lid design

NewkrylonliddesignBrian Weaver writes:

I have used Krylon products for years, especially their fixative products and more recently their spray paints. The product while excellent has a major package design flaw.

The new lid design is supposed to make opening the spray can easy, however the positioning of the indentations creates a pinch effect on the lid making a firm grip almost impossible, and as you pinch and pull according to the instructions your fingers of course slip off, sometimes painfully.

Comments:

that lady in the vonage ad could open it no problem.

"I am Krylon. I am a god, Krylon. I am a hippie god."

But then you could use the fixative to close your wounds! Not broken!

I actually like the new cap design. BTW if you ever look at a can of the Krylon Metal effects paint, the tempature you're suppoesed to apply it in is something like 60 - 9000 degrees. Typo for the win!

Use a screwdriver.

You hold the can and push the cap off with your thumb. Ta-da -- one-handed opening!

Maybe you are supposed to pinch hard enough to make the lid pop off without having to pull much. (it could have been designed by a body builder) :)

yeah those have always been a problem here is what to do: nail the can to a two by four and wrap the cap with a chain. connect the chain to a ford 350 supercab dually (anything less will cause tire to spin or dig a hole to china) rev it in neutral and jam it into gear. when finished clean the paint out of the nozzle

fuov - I love it! The only thing you left out was the duct tape.

Hey, come you overpaid engineers !! Get it right for once. How many Polacks does it take to design a freakin' cap on a spray paint can that doesn't take Hulk Hogan to open ? Geez !!!!!!

Posted by: JB at August 25, 2005 06:36 PM

I've used those cans, And I didn't have any problem opening them. just grip it as it tells you and open like you were breaking something in half. DUH!

Bizarre. I had this exact issue this morning while using some Krylon spray paint. I thought... hmmm, this cap is opens very awkwardly!! I am happy to see others have noticed this!
