Broken: Camera product copy

John Weber points out the "incompatible convenience" promised in this camera:

Omisys DC6330 is completed with a 3X digital zoom (10 steps), TV out playback, 1.5?color LCD, and USB interface compatibility; all these just to deliver the incompatible convenience.

Comments:

This I just can't figure. This needs some help.

Ooh, and I'm first!

what do u think? was this guy tired, mad, or drunk? or some combination?

Posted by: gmangw at September 3, 2005 12:24 AM

Looks like someone was relying on their spell checker to spell "incomparable" for them. :P

I like that it's "one of the smallest and [most?] compact" digital cameras, coming in at 2 pounds!! Not to mention that it's 3 megapixels interpolated to 6 megapixels... Can anyone say "false advertising?"

Posted by: ambrocked at September 3, 2005 03:16 AM

There's also the large amount of grammar typos, like the slogan: "Want quality and serfice fast, we provide it."

These people are obviously foreign, so I'm not sure making fun of their copy mistakes is fair. The 2 lbs. probably refers to the shipped PACKAGE, not the camera. And while the interpolation is pretty shady, at $81, it's priced right.

Is it just me or does this ad look like it was written by a 5 year old?

Posted by: elite marksman at September 3, 2005 04:49 PM

Did someone say "You get what you pay for"?

Posted by: tom wylie at September 3, 2005 07:02 PM

I can't get past the fragmented sentences in this ad to read any further. No way would I buy a camera from a company or person who can't even put a sentence together. Definitely broken!

Posted by: Faolan at September 3, 2005 08:25 PM

It doesn't get much more off-brand than that. Until today, I had never heard of Omisys. Please tell me whoever sent this in is not going to buy that camera...

damn What about the tagline?

Want Quality Service and Fast,We Provide it

perhaps

Want quality service, fast? We provide it to people who can not punshooate.

Yes! 1.5? colors! it's what i've been looking for in a camera! but seriously, send this in to engrish.

Posted by: Bob at September 4, 2005 07:17 AM

gmangw -

I'm going to have to go with tired and probably drunk.

Posted by: a_cheesepuff at September 5, 2005 08:59 PM

Yeah, Bob's got this one -- definitely belongs on engrish.com.

Posted by: Michael at September 6, 2005 03:30 PM

At least this wasn't for an english textbook.

That would have been stupid.

Posted by: Sido at September 6, 2005 07:22 PM

All of the poor wording allows this to hide:

Image Sensor

3.3 Mega pixels CMOS sensor interpolated to 6.0 Mega pixels

Posted by: Joshua Wood at September 22, 2005 04:25 PM

Wow, that was a pretty screwed up sentence I wrote above, the site is spreading like a virus. Turn back before it's too late.

Posted by: Joshua Wood at September 22, 2005 04:29 PM

And... Not only does it have a "Normal 60cm ~ infinity" focus range, but it IDLES! No power save mode, but idling!
