Broken: P & O shameful ad

Pando_ad Gary Bramall writes:

Taken just by the Gatwick express: "people want escape, not escape tunnels."

Don't know if it is broken in the true context of the word but it's wrong. What next - will Eurostar advertise about ferries sinking?

Comments:

try reading it out loud: Puh-and-Ople want escape. or better yet: pampersandople want escape.

_@_v - of course the counter ad from the chunnel people...

picture of seasick passengers leaning over the side...

"if you're making the crossing by rail, it's more fun when you're actually in a train"

The ad is in refrence to the escape tubes in the chunnel, so it does make sense. (when was the last time you saw an escape tube on a boat?)

That's really... interesting.

Oh, MH, there's something wrong with the top 'n' bottom links again.

that really is odd....

Looks to me like a rather desperate attempt on the part of P&O to convince themselves that there's something special about their customers (the "p&ople"). I can't imagine anyone deciding to take the ferry rather than the Eurostar because of this ad.

P&Ople want escape, not escape tunnels...

but real people want a life, not a lifeboat...

Does their ad agency realize that does not make any sort of sense

"if you're making the crossing by rail"

I vote for she-snalie to be hired by Madison Avenue. Looking forward to her ad campaigns.

not broken, but quite stupid and foolish.

I detect some bitterness from P&O (about the chunnel) and the first thing I got when I tried their website was a panel that sniped at me "Your browser is too old".

Oh Yeah, ... Well your boats have been replaced by a train. so HA!

For the Americans who have no idea what we are talking about here (I am American, just well-educated)

P&O= Ferry Company that runs between Britan and (I guess) France.

Eurostar= High speed bullet trains that, also run from Britian to France, via the Channel Tunnel. :-)

Knowing the name of a European ferry service sure is a sign of good education. And good breeding!

FROM THE UK TO THE MAINLAND YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS FOR TRAVEL:

1) AN UNDERGROUND SUBWAY/TRAIN SYSTEM THAT GOES UNDERNEATH THE OCEAN

2) A FERRY TRIP

THAT'S THE MEANING OF THE AD

THE SHOUTY GOD hasn't realised you can also fly (and I would have thought that he (she?) would have known that!).

Timm- They're probably even more bitter now that in addition to trains taking their business, the new faster Hoverspeed ferries take even more.

I took one of those from Dover to Calais last summer. We practically FLEW past the P&O ferries. One hour trip.
