Broken: Parking violation sign

ViolationLauren sends in this picture taken in an airport parking garage, and notes: "Maybe they are trying to cheer you up after realizing your car is gone?"

Sounds like a card you'd get in monopoly, y'know? "Car towed. Find $50 in the empty parking space." At least that was my gut reaction.

Posted by: BlastYoBoots at March 9, 2006 01:09 AM

Heh. My wife's old Chevy Nova ought to be worth about $50....

Posted by: Glenn Lasher at March 9, 2006 06:31 AM

Hey...the last line of the sign is missing!

Should read "...and find $50.00 MISSING FROM YOUR POCKET AFTER YOU PAY US"

broken.

Posted by: ~ at March 9, 2006 07:16 AM

should say something like "violators will have their CAR towed!" or maybe it doesnt matter, i know thats not the point...nevermind

Posted by: da at March 9, 2006 08:06 AM

That's great! I would love to find $50!! I could think of a few people who would be happy to get rid of their junk and find $50 in its place.

da: I agree, I certainly don't like the idea of being forcibly pulled out of my office or the store and towed anywhere. Even if I find $50 as a result, that certainly can't come close to covering my hospital bill. :)

Haha nice.

Posted by: Josh Z. at March 9, 2006 10:15 AM

that's certainly one for the department of corrections

Posted by: lk at March 9, 2006 11:13 AM

Ok- signs made by men in prison, this isnt terribly surprising- unfortunately-

Posted by: smartypants at March 9, 2006 12:11 PM

well at least it's towed, not toed. I hate being toed. Or de-toed. herm.

Posted by: zounds Padang at March 9, 2006 12:24 PM

Was this sign in the U.S. or could this be engrish?

Posted by: Sue at March 9, 2006 01:09 PM

Always, always spellcheck!

Posted by: ________ at March 9, 2006 02:24 PM

Spell check will say "find" is fine

Posted by: Anon at March 9, 2006 02:52 PM

Perhaps the violators themselves will be towed to a location where $50 is available to them.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Ed at March 9, 2006 03:00 PM

Funny. Like the more common signs that say "Fine for littering" I see this often and wonder if that means it is ok to litter here?

Posted by: Arthur Dent at March 9, 2006 03:19 PM

Touching electric rail is illegal

Violators will be fined

Posted by: Fuzzy at March 9, 2006 04:06 PM

'Fine for littering' - does this mean it's ok for my cat to have its babies here?

This is one of several identical signs in the New Orleans Airport parking garage. Taken last month.

First one I've seen in a while that you can't argue that it's not broken! ^_^

Posted by: Katie at March 9, 2006 09:19 PM

I knew that sign was familiar. I was just there last week ;)

Posted by: ed at March 9, 2006 10:50 PM

[sarcasm]

NOT BROKEN! This was probably made by some poor guy in prison! Imagine the emotional truama he's experiencing! Give him a break and let him make a mistake every now and then! My goodness, you insensitive clods!

[/sarcasm]

Sorry, Katie. The tempatation was just too much. :)

should read

Touching electric rail is illegal

Violators will be found

Posted by: Eric Hosmer at March 10, 2006 05:33 PM

Touching electric rail is illegal

Violators will be fried

Posted by: pinus at March 10, 2006 08:23 PM

Peeing on the electric rail is illegal

Violators will be sterilized

Amazing that this sign had to pass through at least a dozen people before it was mounted. Makes you wonder just how educated the project manager is for this airport? BTW, which airport is this at?

Prosecutors will be Violated.

Posted by: Pat at March 13, 2006 02:38 PM

The violators don't get towed. Their cars do.

But hey, at least I get 50$ out of it.

I wonder if they'll pay for my hospital bills...
