Broken: (Not broken) A few things in Lewisham

Lewisham

The Love Lewisham website allows citizens to submit pictures of "broken" things in their community, to alert the local government for need of a fix. Good site.

Comments:

I think the fact that "This is Broken" has a special place to post NOT broken things is broken in itself. It negates the very concept of this site. Have you ever said a word so many times it loses all meaning? Broken, broken, broken.....

The purpose of TIB is not just to post broken stuff. In fact, the very concept of the site is to encourage better attention to design, functionality and customer experience. It's not just to mock badly made stuff.

And so recognizing people who do things well and address customer issues effectively is something that fits in perfectly with the ultimate goal here.

Not that I speak for Mark, of course, but having met Mark and talked with him on various occasions, I'm aware of where he's coming from and his desire to see less broken stuff and more attention payed to good experience for customers and users.

Steve, I couldn't agree more. Seeing something working and a great example of providing a good experience to users/customers/visitors etc is so much more useful to people looking to provide better experiences than a picture of a broken alarm clock.

Mark's a great guy, and I hope he continues in this direction.

It looks a bit broken to me, but that may be due to the beta being up.

This is interesting, a TIB-type website with more practical applications. Not that TIB isn't practical, simply that the website displayed here probably has more of a chance of having an effect on the brokenness of what is posted.

I spy, on http://www.lovelewisham.org/Public/Images.aspx, a ironing board on the pavement.
