Broken: Coupon on box of Kix cereal

Kenneth Brody writes in:

Below are three images from a box of Kix cereal on our shelf.

On the front of the box it says "Save $4.00 on select DVDs - see side panel for details."

1front

So I check the side of box and find the text - "See back for details."

2side

I then looked at the back of the box and found the text -  "See side for details."

So now I know that the front and back both say "see side for details."

3back

I checked the last side of the box and found the text - "see back for details."

Other than "priced $9.99 or higher" on the side, I see no additional "details" to tell me on which "select DVDs" I can use the coupon.

Comments:

LMAO That hilarious! I can just see someone standing there flipping the box back and forth from the side panel to the back panel, to the side again... Something tells me the editors didn't quite catch that...definitely broken.

To find out how to keep a blonde distracted for hours, turn this over.

Are the details of the offer on the back of the coupon? After you cut out the coupon, "see back for details" would seem appropriate.

In that case, it would be prudent to have "back of coupon" instead of just "back". Otherwise, no one knows they're supposed to cut it out.

So there are people that know what coupons are, and how they work, but wouldn't know that you can cut the coupon off of the box instead of taking the entire cereal box to the DVD store?

We gotta find a blue pawprint, 'cause that's the first clue. Then we put them in our notebook, 'cause they're whose clues? Blues clues!

Now we sit down in our thinking chair and think... think... thi-i-ink. 'Cause when we use our minds and take a step at a time, we can do any thing... that we wanna do!

@Rich: If the details are on tehe back, it's still broken as the information is unavailable unless one opens the box, or cuts out the coupon. I would guess that a retaile would want you to purchase the item before allowing you to do it, so as an enticement for sales, this fails.

This is obviously a coupon, in fact it even says at the top "manufacturers coupon". Every coupon I have seen as part of the packaging of a product I usually have to cut out, indicated by the dashes. Stores don't like to take the entire box! Manufacturers coupons also contain information for the retailer on how to be reimbursed on the value of the coupon. The image above only shows one side. Assuming this is a legitimate coupon, this information is probably on the reverse side of the coupon (along with terms the customer must meet). I would assume there is a reason the coupon only says "see back for details" instead of "see back of coupon for details". Look at any consumer packaging, most text not directly related to selling the product or making it look pretty is in a smaller font, in black, and shortened. Leaving out the words "of coupon" probably saves on ink, making the box cheaper to produce.

I'd just love to see the person standing there in the grocery store..looking at this coupon, not being able to read the back of the coupon, and debating what to do....Oh, God....do I buy the box? What do I do? I can't read the details on the back! What if the offer is terrible? I will have wasted all this time and money!!! gahhhhhhh!
